EPA joins critics of MTBE

Article Abstract:

The EPA formed a blue ribbon panel tasked with determining the air quality benefits and water quality concerns associated with oxygenates in gasoline. The panel submitted a report in July 1999 that recommends the reduction or the total elimination of MTBE in gasoline. It made the recommendation to eliminate the use of MTBE to lessen current and future threats to drinking water. The panel discovered that oxygenates do not biodegrade well and contaminates drinking water supplies.

Glenn F Straubb has acquired Broward Marine in Dec 1998 from its owner/founder Frank Denison Sr for almost $40 million and formed the company, Broward Yachts Inc. Straubb promises that under his leadership, the marina will offer a variety of services associated with distinctive yachting lifesttyle. These include enhanced marine recreational facilities, more headroom in the company's yachts and service such as electronics assistance.
