Marina groups take step toward merger

The International Marina Institute, Marina Operators Association of America have signed 'association of management agreement in October 2003, that will lead to a total merger in a year. The merger will benefit the industry by more training programs planned for increasing the level of professionalism in the industry.

In the future, boat retailers will acquire marinas so as to increase sales. MarineMax, the biggest US boat retailer is looking not only at dealer but also marina opportunities. The marina/retailer relationship is two-way with more marinas wanting to be a dealer.
