Measuring the performance of polyiso insulation

Article Abstract:

National Roofing Contractors Assn members reported that 55% of all insulation they used in roof construction in 1999 was made of polyiso foam. The Polyisocyanurate Insulation Manufacturers Assn found that a record 4.5 billion board ft of polyiso was used in 1999 as both wall and roof insulation. There is clearly strong industry confidence in this energy-efficient product. An analysis of the materials indicates that it offers an excellent mix of qualities that have made for excellent roof performance since 1975.

The 'perfect' insulation for an imperfect world

Article Abstract:

WarmWall polyiso is a perfect sheating product for both wood and steel frame houses. Made in a continous process using no additional adhesives, polyiso insulation, also called polyisocyanurate, does not only offer increased energy efficiency but also reduced labor and material cost. Moreover, polyiso offers better protection from moisture and condensation because it is tough and dimensionally stable.

XPS and Polyiso: new views for single-ply roofing

Article Abstract:

The specifications for the use of extruded polystyrene and polyisocyanurate in single-ply roofing systems are changing due to emerging code aprovals and recommendations. New comparisons involve building code thermal barrier requirements, board requirements when used in conjunction with a high-performance roofing membrane in steel-deck roofing applications and R-vvalues appropriate for each product.
