Neo-Nazi Web issue splits U.S., Germany

Article Abstract:

The US and Germany are in conflict over neo-Nazi and other extreme right- wing Web sites based in the US but accessible from Germany. Such sites are illegal in Germany but have First Amendment protection in the US. The sites became a political issue in Germany in Apr 2001, when Spiegel Online, the Web edition of German newsmagazine Der Spiegel, declared that German Interior Minister Otto Schilly would resort to hacker methods to block access to the sites which sell everything from copies of Hitler's 'Mein Kampf' to SS insignia and other paraphernalia.

Wireless service provider in Argentine alliance

Article Abstract:

Wireless content provider i3 Mobile has formed an alliance with Indigo Mobile of Argentina for the sale of short messaging and electronic commerce services in Latin America. John Webster, i3 Mobile's managing director for Latin America, said Latin America presented the best foreign investment opportunity for the company since the growth rate for cellular phone use is twice that for personal computers. Webster believes that they can get sign up as much as 500,000 to 750,000 subscribers by the middle part of 2001.

The Knot prepares to go global

Article Abstract:

The Knot, a US-based online wedding supplies and services company, has started its global expansion in May 2000 by partnering with companies in Brazil and France. Its Brazilian partner is J. Stern, an international luxury goods retailer, while its French partner is GBH, Europe's largest wedding media. The Knot Web site in Brazil and France will start operations on June and July, respectively.
