Market seen for U.S. men's fashion magazine

EMAP PLC of UK will introduce in Mar 2000 a US version of its FHM, a popular men's magazine in the UK. The US version, FHM Collections, is a semi-annual magazine focusing on upscale men's fashion and personal grooming aimed at young men with an average household income of over $75,000 who are willing to spend on fashion items. FHM Collections, which will compete with Maxim and Details, will also feature entertainment, careers, health, sex, technology and light fashion.

Claritas to provide data for ABC audits

Article Abstract:

San Diego, CA-based Claritas Inc has entered into an agreement to proide the Audit Bureau of Circulations (ABC) with demographic marketing data for its Audit Reports and Publisher's Statements. Claritas' county population, household information data and ZIP code household estimates will be included in ABC's circulation repoprts. The ABC reports are used by media buyers and advertisers to verify publications' circulation claims.

Emerge magazine ceases publicatioin until 2001

Article Abstract:

Vanguarde Media announced in Jun 1, 2000 that it will suspend the publishing of 'Emerge,' a monthly magazine geared toward upscale African- American consumers, for the rest of the year. The company, however, plans to relaunch the magazine base in early 2001 after implementing new editorial strategies. Most of the magazine's staff in Washington has already been laid off by Vanguarde.
