Newsday to outsource teleservices

Article Abstract:

Newsday will close down its inhouse telemarketing services due to the inactivation of New York's do-not-call (DNC) list regulations. A spokesman for Newsday said the telemarketing operations would be outsourced to an unnamed service provider while its 92 employees would be eliminated at the end of May 2001. More than a million New York state residents have signed up for the DNC list, forcing newspapers to find new ways of reaching customers without breaking the law.
