Police probe 125 million pounds sterling Drake & Scull JLE bid

Article Abstract:

The possible crime of fraud and bribery is being investigated by UK police in connection with contractual relations on the 125 million pound sterling extension of the Jubilee Line. The offices of contractor Drake & Scull have been cleared of important documents connected with the contract. A press statement released by Drake & Scull claimed the arrest of one of its directors was part of an on-going process to help police with their inquiries. The original contract was costed at 76 million pound sterling in 1993 but the final bill is expected to be closer to 200 million pounds sterling.

Police raid Jubilee Line QS

Article Abstract:

Quantity surveying firm RWS Project Services, which is working on the Jubilee Line Extension, has been the subject of a raid by British Transport Police. It is believed that the raid is related to settled claims concerning mechanical and electrical and main contracts. The company denies any misconduct, and has expressed confidence that the police investigation will clear its name. A British Transport Police statement links the raid with an inquiry into claims of corruption and fraud relating to contracts for the Jubilee Line Extension project.
