Industry homes stand up to hurricane Fran

Article Abstract:

The study done by the North Carolina Manufactured Housing Institute(NCMHI)on the effect of hurricane-force winds on manufactured homes proved its capacity to withstand such calamities. Its performance was accounted to the strict requisites in the HUD Code and the new wind standards, which allow manufactured houses to withstand winds of up to 100-110 mph. This was substantiated by an aerial tour and photographs of the coastal area and testimonies of homeowners expressing their satisfaction with the performance of their dwellings during Hurricane Fran in 1997.
