Promo aims to put fizz into new-boat sales

Article Abstract:

A three-phase promotion sponsored by Dr. Pepper/Seven-Up Co. (DP7) aims to promote boating before a mass audience of consumers. There are over 20 boating companies, including Waukegan, IL-based Outboard Marine Corp. (OMC) and Old Town Canoes in Old Town, ME, that have signed on to supply product for the promotion. The promotion includes a sweepstakes through more than 930 local supermarkets and major grocery store chains as well as a National Marine Manufacturers Association-operated giveaway during its winter boat shows. Under a national Under-the-Bottlecap program, drinkers of Dr. Pepper and Diet Dr. Pepper can instantly win either a Javelin fishing boat package from OMC, a canoe or kayak from Old Town.
