Scout Boats adding 15,000 square feet

Article Abstract:

Scout Boats Inc is expanding the floorspace of its Summerville, SC, plant by adding 15,000 square feet. The additional floorspace will house a 6,000-squae-foot bridge crane, a 32-by 12-foot test tank, a vacuum system, a quality control laboratory, a sales office and an employee fitnes center. The Summerville, SC, plant expansion, which is the third step in the company's four-phase expansion, is expected to be completed by Jun 2000.

OMC rides wave of 2nd-half profits with new boats

Article Abstract:

Outboard Marine Corp (OMC) is introducing a host of new products to sustain its profitability for the second half of the 1999 model year. OMC's boatbuilding firms tured a profit in the 2nd qtr ending Jun 30, 1999, with sales rising by 21.6% over the same period in 1998. OMC's objective for the new product offerings is to sustain growth. The six boat brands include Stratos, Hydra-Sports, Javelin, Lowe, Seaswirl and Princecraft.
