Article Abstract:
Architectural firm Sergison Bates has designed a pair of semi-detached houses for a site being developed by The William Sutton Trust in Stevenage, England. These houses have a number of innovative features. The roof has a double pitch, while the houses are angled in plan. The structure is made from timber panels, and the base of the front and side elevations and the ground floor of the rear elevation are clad in brick slips mounted on panels. Above this, the walls and the roof are clad in fibre-cement tiles.

Some housebuilders do not provide a good enough service or product for their customers, according to homebuyers, the National Association of New Home Owners and the government. The NHBC believes that its ongoing review will provide remedies, and consumer affairs minister Nigel Griffiths, believes that self-regulation should be given a chance. Housebuilders will need to have a clearer understanding of what their buyers want, and they will need to be less antagonistic towards greater customer input.
