Smooth talking screeds

Article Abstract:

Power-trowel and flowing screeds are alternatives to traditional screed laying. They are being used successfully in Scandanavia. Traditional floor screeds have high failure rates. The sand/cement must be used when semi-dry which makes compaction difficult. Shrinking may occur as well as collapse, cracking, de-bonding, hollowness and curling. Screed failure can be due to: incorrect thickness; incorrect surface preparation; insufficient allowance for shrinkage and erroneous specifications.
