Article Abstract:

UK construction company Balfour Beatty is building extra accomodation for the Spanish Embassy, London, UK with Spanish contractor Dragados. It has cost 6.5 million pounds sterling to provides an extra 2,702 squared metres of space. The building is a copy of an Inigo Jones house. The chancery provides 60 new rooms for diplomatic offices and underground parking. The gallery is glazed and is conservatory-like. The largest building is built around a central glazed atrium. The contract is Spanish and does not cater for overheads because of lateness; this risk is covered in the tender price.

Sweett freedom

Article Abstract:

Cyril Sweett Chairman Francis Ives led the 6.5 million pounds sterling management buyout of the company from the surveying company Chesterton. The 25 managers involved in buying Cyril Sweett contributed 2.7 million pounds sterling. Cyril Sweett is a quantity surveyors, with a turnover of almost 12 million pounds sterling and the price also included assets worth 3.3 million pounds sterling. Cyril Sweett will be a limited liability company to encourage new senior employees who do not have to invest in the firm. Chesterton purchased Cyril Sweett in 1995, for 6.5 million pounds sterling.

Article Abstract:

Robert Collingwood set up an office in Prague, Czechoslovakia, 1991, for Jestico and Whiles. Since that time the foreign firm has developed into the largest architecture practice in Prague. In the summer of 1996, Collingwood bought out the management and now employs 18 people. One of Collingwood and Partners projects is the first Next retail shop in the city, and Collingwood claims most of the work received comes via word of mouth.
