Studies find large gap between present, future ITV customers

Article Abstract:

Two studies on interactive television revealed differences that seem to indicate the serious lack of relevant information about the industry and what it offers to consumers. The surveys were conducted on 1,000 clients of WorldGate of Trevose, PA, and by TechTrends, an interactive entertainment research company. The confusion appears in the wide disparity in consumer responses when asked to grade the importance of customized interactive advertising.

Article Abstract:

Comcast Cable Communications will conduct separate but simultaneous trials of personal video recorders (PVRs) made by ReplayTV and TiVo. Andy Adiss, VP of marketing at Comcast Cable, said the PVRs made by the two companies use different technologies, which would result in a different viewing experience. During the trials, ReplayTV will cover Comcast subscribers in Burlington County, NJ, while TiVo will cover Cherry Hill, NJ. Subscribers will also receive an additional set-top box that will be attached directly to their cable set-top and telephone lines.
