Study correlates small biz owners personal, commercial credit scores

Article Abstract:

A study by Experian shows that small business owners are 20 percent more likely to buy items by mail-order. They are also highly receptive to e-mail marketing. Service industries like ad agencies, consulting companies and doctors are 73 percent more likely to be receptive to e-mail marketing. The study also finds a positive correlation between the consumer credit scores and the commercial credit scores of small business owners.

Legislators opt for opt-in in driver data bill

Article Abstract:

A House-Senta conference committee decided to introduce an amendment at the $49.5-billion Senate Transportation Appropriations Bill that makes the 1994 Driver Privacy Protection Act opt-in instead of opt-out. The bill, which is expected to be approved by both houses of Congress, will ensure that states require drivers to provide specific permission before their information is released for any purpose except law enforcement.

List brokering may affect federal funding for public TV stations

Article Abstract:

The practice of public television stations to rent, sell or swap donor lists with political groups may be banned by Congress because of a real or perceived conflict of interest. Billy Tauzin, chairman of the House commerce subcommittee, intends to file a bill that will prohibit such activity, either through direct contact or third-party brokers, according to his spokesperson Ken Johnson.
