The price of doing the right thing

Article Abstract:

Alfred McALpine Construction is suing City Merchant Bank for 1 million pounds sterling for contractual negligence. Following non-payment of 300,000 pounds sterling to McAlpine on 5 Nov 1991, McAlpine accepted a new agreement by letter on 14 Nov from City Merchant Bank to complete the work and receive deferred payment of 460,000 pounds sterling. The money was not received. City Merchant Bank denies the existence of the agreement. By the non-enforcement of the Intermediate Form of Contract, McAlpine lost the opportunity to sue City Merchant for outstanding money, profit loss and overheads.
