The secrecy gap in marina security

Article Abstract:

Marina owners and operators typically emphasize amenities and services to generate larger profits and repeat business. However, a number of factors can threaten profitability, including reduced safety and security. Many marina owners harbor a sense of false security because the industry does not have a formal network to distribute information. Thus, incidents of theft, assault and destruction of property are frequently believed to be isolated cases. The situation is further aggravated by the fact that marina operators typically keep silent about on-site crime.
