Cordless IT communications

Article Abstract:

The development of cordless information technology has great implications for both new and old office buildings. Increasingly, companies want to be more flexible in when and where work is done. Some flexibility was introduced in the 1980s with structured cabling for voice and data communications, but many buildings are unsuitable for structured cable. The latest revolution is cordless technology which is quick to install; needs little space; has little impact on the fabric of an existing building; and offers links to a person rather than a desk.

Travelling the wrong path

Article Abstract:

The construction industry has become a key target for environmentalists, with anti-road protests, for example, now being very common. Environmentalists would in fact do better to focus on pressing for a long-term, broad-based transport policy, developing an overall strategy rather than concentrating their energies on opposing individual roads. They should also recognise that they have some common ground with the construction industry, especially in the desire for improved planning.

Better biotransformation of tert-L-leucine

Article Abstract:

Excelsyn Molecular Development created a biotransformation process to produce tert-L-leucine (or tert-butyl-glycine or TBG), used for the synthesis of enzyme inhibitors and asymmetric catalysis. There are several ways to manufacture TBG, such as Degussa's NADH reactive amination of trimethylpyruvate. Alternative methods are also given.
