Tube line architects forced to cut costs

Article Abstract:

London Underground is putting considerable pressure on architectural firms working on stations on the Jubilee Line Extension project, which is due for completion in Mar 1998. The architectural firms are being asked to redesign their buildings in order to reduce the cost of the project, currently at 2.6 billion pounds sterling. This may involve reducing platform and tunnel cladding and replacing aluminium roofing with a cheaper material.

UK and Portuguese architects fall out

Article Abstract:

UK architect Broadway Malyan has clashed with Portuguese concern CPU Consultores, with which it formed a joint venture operating in Lisbon, Portugal, in spring 1994. The joint venture has now been dissolved, and Broadway Malyan has opened a new office in Lisbon. It is believed that a conflict arose because CPU used Broadway's name and experience to win contracts, but was not prepared to share the payments it received for the work.
