USPS probes Move Update compliance

Article Abstract:

The US Postal Service (USPS) has organized teams to review compliance with the Move Update, the program it launched in July 1997 to bring down volume and cost of Undelivered As Addressed mail. The compliance initiative also aims to measure the impact of the program on the mailing community. USPS decided to conduct a review of the Move Update program after seeing little to no reduction in its undelivered mails. The review will cover the over 500 mailers across the US, with six representative mailers to be randomly selected for visits in each of the 85 districts of USPS.

Deutsche Post purchases Global Mail

Article Abstract:

Deutsche Post AG, the world's second-largest postal service next to US Postal Service, has announced it will acquire Global Mail Ltd., a Sterling, VA-based international mail service provider, for an undisclosed amount. Both companies said the combination will enhance the service as well as broaden the products they offer to customers worldwide. Observers, on the other hand, noted the acquisition will allow Deutsche Post and Globe Mail to compete more aggressively with players in the US-to-international mail market such as US Postal Service.
