HUD approves funding for research alliance projects

Article Abstract:

The HUD has allocated funding for several Manufactured Housing Research Alliance (MHRA) projects in 1999. HUD will continue financing for the search of cost-effective methods using steel frames in manufactured home designs. HUD also discussed with MHI the establishment of HUD funding methods to avoid technicalities that may hinder in other applications such as multi-family construction. Meanwhile, HUD is considering future funding for other MHRA projects including research on the viability and longevity of duct sealants and construction adhesives.

Investors in manufactured home communities can eliminate potential turnaround and management problems by focusing on several issues. Some of these include taking full control of the operations, developing and implementing plans and establishing credibility with suppliers. Management should also look out for profit indicators such as location, size and number of homesites, utilities, amenities, income and operating expenses.
