West Numbers climb but catalog sales lag

Article Abstract:

Watsonville, CA-based boat retailer and marine supply store, West Marine, has posted sales of $183 million in 2nd qtr 2000, up by 3.7% compared with $176.9 million for the 1999 quarter. Meanwhile, its catalog sales, however, dipped by 11.8% to $14.4 million from $16.3 million in the 1999 quarter. This however did not affect the company's overall performance for the quarter which company president and CEO John Edmonson attribute to the firm's improved invetory positions and the launching of the West Advantage customer loyalty program.
