Why don't we work like this?

Article Abstract:

The introduction of lean production techniques at Nissan's car plant in Sunderland, England, has created a calm, ordered environment. Emphasis is placed on removing waste or adding value to each element of the production process, and workers are encouraged to think carefully about their job. Each worker receives training in critical path analysis, statistics and how to deal with data, and all are expected to make suggestions for making improvements. It is possible that some lean production techniques used at this plant would be suitable in the construction industry.

MOD under fire over prime contracts

Article Abstract:

The UK's Ministry of Defence (MOD) and the construction industry are having their first disagreements over prime contracting. Issues being disputed include lack of trust, open-book accounting and subcontractor payments. Prime contractors are worried that the MOD wants to bring in auditors to check the accuracy of bid figures and say the idea of spending money on auditors defeats the whole purpose of prime contracts, which is reducing waste.
