Article Abstract:

Advancements have been made in notepad technology but products still remain expensive, slow and inaccurate. Most touch-sensitive screens are unable to recognise joined writing and have to be programmed to recognise an individual's handwriting. Spreadsheets and wordprocessing packages can not be used on notepad computers. AutoCAD is available on notepad computers. One main use for notepad computers is for the recording of geographic information. Amstrad's PDA600 is an electronic, pen-based organiser, with diary, telephone book and notepad. It costs 300 pounds sterling.

Disco inferno

Article Abstract:

Latest technology makes it possible for companies to cut their own CD-ROMs relatively inexpensively. Company-produced CD-ROMs can play a valuable role in distributing multimedia marketing material, backing up data and swapping files within the company. CD-R discs make permanent recordings, with information being burned into them by increasing the power of the laser that usually reads the disc. CD-RW discs record data on a layer that changes colour in response to light. These discs cannot be read by some older CD-ROM drives.
