The 1997-1999 front-drive Pontiac Trans Sport minivans feature a revamped design and, unlike their predecessors, come in two sizes, namely, the standard- and extended-length sizes. The new design did away with the 'dustbuster'-like, long-snout styling and plastic body panels. Virtues include ride, passenger space, cargo room and anti-lock braking systems. Distinctive drawbacks include fuel economy and rear seating comfort.

The 1997-1999 Saturn Coupe models may be noiser than, and lack the refinement of, most Japanese sports coupes. However, they boast an impressive reliability record. Acceleration with an SC1 edition is adequate with manual shift but slightly less satisfying with the four- speed automatic transmission. Fuel economy is appealing with any edition but particularly exceptional in the SC1 with five-speed gearbox.
