A hair-raising story: Help is at hand for those of you who love your dog but hat its hairs sticking to carpets

Article Abstract:

A mixture of cat and dog hair from a variety of breeds was collected to test the performance of vacuum cleaners on a short pile carpet. Eight cleaners performed well, six of which were upright cleaners. The two cylinder cleaners that performed best had power heads and were the AEG Vampyr Croma.5 and Miele Cat & Dog S316i-2. Most of the cleaners retained a lot of allergen particles and the Oreck XL2605HH and Miele Cat & Dog S316i-2 left the least dust mite allergen on the carpet. The best buy upright was the Dyson DCO1 at 200 pounds sterling, although it is heavy and bulky. The best buy cylinder cleaner was the Electrolux Mondo Z1190 Silence at 120 pounds sterling, with the Miele Cat & Do S316i-2 also a good choice.

What's new?

Article Abstract:

An autodialler burglar alarm, wall safe, floorboard safe and barking dog alarm are evaluated, with reservations made about all the products. The autodialler alarm is thought to respond too slowly to burglaries which tend to be rapid. Neither safe was considered really secure, and window locks are considered a better investment than the barking dog alarm.
