Best buy PMI

Article Abstract:

Private medical insurance (PMI) can be quite expensive, but does offer a number of benefits. It covers the policyholder for unforeseen medical conditions, but only if treatment will bring about a full recovery or a return to the policyholder's previous state of health. It will not treat conditions already existing when the policy is taken out. Budget PMI policies pay for in-patient treatment, but often do not cover out-patient care. Standard policies cover all in-patient treatment and usually cover out-patient treatment. Comprehensive policies have little restriction on in- and out-patient care.

Take a long-term view

Article Abstract:

People are living longer and are likely to need to pay for long-term care as their health declines. The cost of care per year in a UK residential home is approximately 12,500 pounds sterling, while a nursing home will charge over 17,000 pounds. People can pay for their care by either taking out an insurance policy or joining an equity release scheme. Details of all the long-term policies are given, plus a checklist for selecting an appropriate policy. Equity release schemes enable homeowners to raise capital by selling their house but still live in it as a tenant.
