Direct Debit dilemmas

Article Abstract:

Problems with commercial equipment leasing agreements are commonplace but one case highlights the need for vigilance when details in the original contract are changed. A practice adopted by finance company Anglo Group PLC, part of the GE Capital Group, is to charge for transferring the contract to another name if the original company is merged or acquired and a new name is adopted. The Finance and Leasing Association says that the practice is not standard, but there may be a case for reasonable administration costs to be levied.
