Easy ways to save water

Article Abstract:

Water-usage in the garden can be reduced by using mulches such as bark chips or cocoa shells. A 50-litre bag can cost between 4-5 pounds sterling. Using grass cuttings as a mulch is cheaper but less attractive. Grass proved to be the most effective way of retaining water in tests. Bark was the least effective. Planting plants which do not require much water, such as gazanias or californian poppies, will reduce water-consumption. Water butts can be used to collect household water. They cost between 20-30 pounds for a butt which holds 120-135 liters.

Garden centres

Article Abstract:

The prices charged for gardening items vary greatly amongst different types of outlet and gardeners should shop around to obtain the best deal. Specialist nurseries and independent garden centres are the best place to buy plants. Garden centre chains are good for one-stop shopping and can provide basic advice but are not necessarily the cheapest for such items as tools and compost. Prices tend to be lower in the gardening departments of high-street shops but the choice of items is limited.
