A parliamentary inquiry into the laser industry in December 2004 asked for a stricter regulation and new guidelines from the Royal College of Ophthalmologists (RCOphth) and the College of Optometrists.The Eye Laser Association (ELA) that represents several clinics assured that numerous studies revealed that a largely used form of laser eye surgery, Lasik is safe and effective.

Watch out for the mobile phone switching scam

Article Abstract:

The latest switching scam by firms masquerading as their network provider to hit mobile phone consumers where unsuspecting householders were tricked into swapping their home phone or energy supplier is reported. Mobile phone customers should be on their guard against cold calls from reps asking when their contract is due to expire so they could sell new contracts.

Asda sells unfit food

Article Abstract:

An investigation by environmental health department about the sale of damaged items on the bargain shelf at the supermarket's store Asda in London is presented. Asda replied that they tried to reduce waste by reducing the price of items with damaged packaging as long as the product itself was not affected.
