An evaluation of 37 split system air conditioners concludes that three models offer superior qualities and that 11 other models are worth looking at or offer good value for money. Split system air conditioners can be identified by a separate condenser unit which is situated externally to the room. From the recommended models the Mizushi 19 offers an enormous cooling capacity at 19,000 BTU, and a number of useful features coupled with a 2-year warranty. The Mizushi 1911A1 almost matches the cooling capacity and is a little cheaper. The third recommendation is for the DeLonghi PAC ASL.

Single-unit mobile air conditioners have the evaporator and condenser within one unit and exhaust hoses. The best purchase for buyers requiring a hot air facility combined with a high cooling capacity is the Enrichetti Thermocool Crystal. Excellent alternatives for buyers not requiring the hot air facility are the DeLonghi PAC 25 or the DeLonghi PAC 26 eco, which is the only model to use propane in place of the environment-damaging R22 refrigerant.
