Older models

Article Abstract:

The Nissan Sunny and Toyota Corolla score better than average for breakdowns, problems and faults. This applies to both recent and older models. The Rover 100/Metro is above average on problems and faults but is only average for breakdowns. The Toyota Carina E has an average number of problems but scores better on breakdowns and faults. Recent Renault Espace vehicles score below average for breakdowns, problems and faults. Petrol versions of older Citroen ZX rate badly on all three factors but older diesel vehicles are average.

12,000 readers rate their cars

Article Abstract:

The Ford Ka came out tops in the supermini category of a 'Which?' members survey. The car was recommended for its comfort, interior design and space; although fuel consumption, visibility and cramped boot space were rated as poor. The Skoda Felicia ranked tops in the small family car category; the Subaru Legacy took the number one slot among large family cars; with the BMW-5 series tops of the executive cars; and the Renault Megane Scenic tops among the multi-purpose vehicles.

A class of its own?

Article Abstract:

Mercedes-Benz A-class is a cross between a supermini and an MPV but is expensive, costing from 15,300 pounds sterling. The car has distinctive looks and clever use has been made of interior space but engine refinement and ride are poor, comparing badly with other small family cars like the Ford Focus and VW Golf.
