Britishers watch as much as television as listening to radio, approximately 20 hours a week and it is stated that the digital audio broadcasting (DAB) has infused new life into radio broadcasting. A range of portable models, digital as well as analog, have been tested and results are tabulated but there is a general consensus that some of the best analog models sound better than digital models.

They were impressed with the exceptional sound quality and enjoyed the additional programming, like storytelling shows for children. They had some difficulty with reception using an indoor antenna and recommend a rooftop unit.
