School dinners: Are they worth having?

Article Abstract:

Most parents want schools to provide healthy, nutritious meals but pupils' preference for high fat, low fibre snack foods is readily satisfied in secondary school canteens. Junior schools are making an effort to provide nutritionally balanced meals to encourage healthy eating amongst the four out of 10 children that now eat school meals. Although three-quarters of senior school pupils are interested in healthy eating, most continue to choose chips, burgers and other fast-foods. Packed lunches eaten by school children tend to be low in fibre, high in fat and sugar and not to include any fruit.

Finding a good builder: Reliable builders, plumbers and electricians are worth their weight in gold. But what's the best way to find them?

Article Abstract:

A survey looked into the experiences of employing tradespeople covering 11 different trades. Tradespeople generally seemed to do a good job, but those who chose tradespeople not already known to them, or relied on insurance companies, were consistently dissatisfied. The different trades were compared, with electricians and painters and decorators rated most highly, and gas fitters and general builders rate the worst. A guide to choosing reliable tradespeople is provided.
