Your health take cover!: Health insurance plans are notoriously complicated

Article Abstract:

A guide to health insurance plans is provided. Private medical insurance (PMI) can often be disappointing, with cover limited to acute conditions. Also premiums are reviewed each year and usually increase faster than inflation, however if it is a good benefit when offered as a standard perk of a job. Private dental treatment is more expensive than NHS dentistry, but insurance based dental plans will pay out to cover the full cost, or pay a set cash amount. Hospital cash plans will pay out a small tax free sum, which may be too small to cover all needs. Other insurance plans considered include income protection plans, critical illness cover and long-term care cover.

Outdoor paint is designed to keep woodwork protected for up to five years, but it will gradually degrade. There are two main types of outdoor paint: special wood paints, designed to allow the wood underneath to flex, and traditional gloss paints, which may lose flexibility with age. A top performer in durability tests is Sandtex Exterior Gloss Paint, which has stood up well to five years of testing. A table giving test results of outdoor gloss paints is presented.

There can be great variations in quality between white paints suitable for exterior wood. Some can produce a surface which remains in very good condition even five years later, while others produce a surface which shows signs of flaking and cracking after only a short time. One-coat gloss paints tend to give rather poor results, as do non-drip gloss paints. New microporous paints are expensive, but give lasting results.
