FRANCE: CLIPACK PLAN OPENING IN SUMMER 2001

hxPackaging specialist Marc Dufour and IT consultant Erwan Tesson are launching a new product on the Internet called Clipack.com. The service offers a two-way line of communication enabling the supplier to exactly meet the buyers packaging requirements, a central information point, and a means to improve supply lead times. Clipack has no plans to directly involve manufacturers on the site, and revenue will be derived from a subscription fee and a percentage from each transaction. Setting up capital of EUR 3.05mn is being managed by Credit Lyonnais Venture Capital and Sud-Ouest Capital Risque, and an advance of EUR 610,000 was also made by the National Agency for Research and Development (Anvar).

The Technical Centre for Paper's sensory testing laboratory has developed a method named Olfa-test, which measures the risk of transfer of odours, which may be developed by cardboard packaging, to the food product it contains. This method enables companies in the paper and cardboard industry to improve the quality of packaging in order to make sure that their products comply with the food sector's requirements.

France: Beausoleil injects EUR 6.25mn into new plant

Article Abstract:

Cartonnerie Beausoleil will inject EUR 6.25mn into a new production plant and machinery. The French cardboard packaging manufacturer lost its existing unit in Brignoles, in the Var departement of France following a fire in May 2001. Storage unit will be larger than in the previous plant.
