Le conditionnement des boissons Des chasses gard es prement disput es

Article Abstract:

New packaging is being introduced on the highly-segmented French beverage market in order to meet both consumer and retailer requirements. In order to gain shares on a stiffly competitive market, packaging manufacturers are focusing on marketing, technological innovation and environmental arguments. They must also meet the requirements of their clients, large retailers and packagers, who are increasingly aware of packaging quality, price, practicality, and its decoration, and of consumers who look for food safety and pleasure. Each material has managed to find a niche where it best expresses its advantages. Plastic bottles dominate the carbonated soft drink niche, cards and glass dominate fruit juice, glass and metal dominate beer, and cartons dominate milk. But the arrival of new materials, such as polyethylene terephthalate (PET), may change things considerably. PET is competing with glass on the beer market and has major assets which appeal to people: it is as transparent as glass but it is lighter and stronger than glass.
