Conodonts from the lower Ordovician at Hunneberg, south-central Sweden

Article Abstract:

A study of conodonts sampled from six sections of a lower Ordovician shale and limestone formation in Hunneberg, Sweden was conducted in an attempt to improve correlation between levels within the graptolitic shales. The findings show that the post-Tremadoc Paroistodus proteus zone can be further subdivided into four successive intervals and that these subdivisions are applicable in other parts of Sweden. Geologic dating of the sub-zones can be performed from a correlation with established graptolite/trilobite zonal boundaries.

The timing of ordovician magmatism in the English Lake district and cross fell inliers

Article Abstract:

Ordovician rocks in the English Lake district and Cross Fell inliers in southeast Ireland form part of the Ordovician destructive plate margin system of microcontinental Avalonia. The contemporaneity of mid and late Ordovician Volcanic periods in England and Wales suggests that the two areas were once part of the some subduction system reacting similarly to plate-scale magma-generating and tectonic processes.
