Donald E. Martin: 1918-1998

Article Abstract:

Meteorologist Donald E. Martin died on Aug 25, 1998 in Florida. He was a Fellow of the American Meteorological Society, a retired US Air Force colonel and a former professor of meteorology at St. Louis University. He was born in 1918 and graduated from the Western Michigan University in 1942. He was the former chief scientist for the Computer Techniques Integration Branch of the Air Weather Service at Scott Air Force Base in Illinois. While at St. Louis University, he taught dynamic and synoptic meteorology. He is survived by his wife, his two daughters and five grandchildren.

Donald Rottner, 1939-1995

Article Abstract:

Donald Rottner passed away on May 23, 1995 in Lakewood, CO. At the time of his death, he was the president of OPHIR Corp., a research outfit that focused on the atmospheric sciences. Rottner was also responsible for the assembly, quality control and data management of a five-year weather modification program in southwestern Colorado. His main focus was on the development of new instruments for weather modification, such as automatic environmental surface observation platforms and remote active radiometric cloud measurement systems.

The contributions of Wallace E. Howell in science are the position of a chief scientist at the Mt. Washington Observatory in New Hampshire, weather modifier, technology developer and inventor of an apparatus causing snow precipitation.
