Graphite precipitation in C-O-H fluid inclusions: closed system compositional and density changes, and thermobarometric implications

Article Abstract:

The presence of graphite in melts is crucial for the study of graphite-saturated C-O-H fluid inclusions. The precipitation of graphite takes place under high temperature. Raman spectroscopy determines low amount of graphite precipitate during equilibrium. The pressure-temperature conditions of GCOH changes to a set of isochores for H20 rich compositions and to a new isochore with decreasing density. The presence of graphite is a critical parameter for the analysis of carbon-oxygen-hydrogen fluid systems.

Halogen-bearing minerals in syenites and high-grade marbles of Dronning Maud Land, Antarctica: monitors of fluid compositional changes during late-magmatic fluid-rock interaction processes

Article Abstract:

Fluorine and chlorine are commonly found in fluids from crustal levels in differing amounts. Most metamorphic and magmatic events involve halogen-containing fluids which can be used in the understanding of fluid evolution. A new study argues that halogens can be used to deduce the direction of fluid flow. Halogen-bearing minerals in high-grade marbles and syenites of Central Dronning Maud Land, Antartica, are used to determine fluid compositional changes during magmatism and fluid-rock interactions.

Fluid-present anatexis of metapelites at El Joyazo (SE Spain): constraints from Raman spectroscopy of graphite

Article Abstract:

It was shown that the anatectic xenoliths of El Joyazo, Spain, support graphite populations with various levels of crystallinity that correlate with metamorphic grades ranging from upper greenschist to granulite facies. The occurrence of melt inclusions in the minerals showed that all solid phases grew during the presence of melt. In addition, it was determined that the water content of a glass in he xenoliths ranged from 4.5 to 6.0 wt%.
