Structure and metamorphism of the granitic basement around Antananarivo: a key to the Pan-African history of central Madagascar and its Gondwana connections

Article Abstract:

Research is presented concerning the polyphase imprint which was gained by Madagascar's Precambrian basement during pan-african orogeny. The formation of midcrust stratoid alkaline granites is discussed.

Age and tectonic evolution of Neoproterozoic ductile shear zones in southwestern Madagascar, with implications for Gondwana studies

Article Abstract:

Research is presented concerning the use of petrogenesis, field observations and U/Pb analysis of monazites, rutiles, zircons and sphenes to investigate 4 episodes of metamorphism and deformation in Precambrian terrain in Madagascar.

Geology, petrology and isotope geochemistry of massif-type anorthosites from southwest Madagascar

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted to analyze the geology, petrology and isotope geochemistry of massif-type anorthosites from southwestern Madagascar. Known as an important component of Precambrian terranes, anorthosites support low color index and deformation effects. They also feature metamorphosed and granulate facies. In addition, anorthosites bodies in Madagascar lack the coeval, spatially associated, silicic plutonic rocks of granitic, charnockitic and manggeritic character.
