Article Abstract:

Management reorganization is shaking up Beatrice Foods Co. Inc., the second largest food and household goods conglomerate in the United States. Beatrice is selling at least fifty of its subsidiaries which post annual sales lower than $90 million each. A $29 million advertising campaign in 1984 presents Beatrice as a marketing rather than a foods operation. Overseas expansion is being operated.

In his latest book, 'The Marketing Imagination', Theodore Levitt urges multinational companies to become global corporations. Huge global markets for standard products have been created by modern communications. The multinational adjusts to local conditions while the global corporation treats the world as a single market.
