Article Abstract:

A survey was undertaken to examine the computations for employees' replacement rates provided by the benefits from a pension plan. The amount of pension payment a retiree will receive as specified by the defined benefit pension plans is usually computed using an established formula based on salary and duration as a plan participant. Aside from furnishing data on benefit formulas, the survey also discloses information on many additional plan provisions necessary to ascertain how much and for how long benefits will be paid.
