An evaluation of Blinder's alternative to profit sharing

Article Abstract:

Alan Blinder's tax-based incentive for indexation may not be an advisable profit sharing substitute. The proposal considers the viability of integrating wages to the firm's marginal cost of labor. Using a quadratic adjustment cost model, limited support can be given tothe tax-based indexing proposal which can only be justifiable if the short run adjustments would consider a trade-off involving output variabilities.

Human capital vs. signalling explanations of wages

Article Abstract:

Human capital theory provides that workers with high levels of education and work experience have higher wages due to higher productivity. The way individuals are sorted according to a standard of ability which improves productivity is examined. Education is not the sole basis of labor productivity but enriches the lives of students so that they can become better citizens.
