An indirect approach to measuring productivity in private services

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted to analyze productivity measurement under incomplete output information conditions in service industries. The study assumes competitive input markets, noncompetitive output markets and constant potential markups. Results show that available data resembles complete information under conditions of homothetic production technologies, increasing total costs with respect to output and identified markups.

Return and dynamics: the path of labor migration when workers differ in their skills and information is asymmetric

Article Abstract:

The factors behind the return of migrant laborers are studied. The initial absence of information about the skill levels of workers result in average wages. However, migrant workers eventually break up into two groups consisting of low- and high-skilled workers. Pay is then adjusted based on skill causing low-skilled workers to return and high-skilled workers to remain and enjoy higher pay.

The dynamics of monopoly union wages with asymmetric information

Article Abstract:

The monopoly union model is extended to analyze the impact of information availability on companies and labor unions. Results show that companies have more information about capital compared to unions. Thus, companies will often give the impression of low profits to lower wage demands and maintain higher earnings. Increased profits for the company was also found to reduce employment.
