Asking the right questions in business retention and expansion surveys

Article Abstract:

The manner of constructing questions in business retention and expansion surveys determines the effectiveness of the survey. Questions must be structured in a way that will not bias the respondent's answer and will elicit useful information. Open-ended questions answerable by either yes or no restrict respondent's choice and willingness to answer. Categorical statements are more appropriate since more choices are presented. Overtime, questions can be revised to fit into the development of information needs.
