Access pricing, bypass, and universal service

Article Abstract:

Current telecommunication laws make it difficult for a new service to enter the market. First the new entrant must find a way to finance operations with regulated price controls and then access must be purchased from an incumbent service. A plan for entry into the telecommunications market is presented.

Cable modems and DSL: broadband Internet access for residential customers

Article Abstract:

Cable modem services have an advantage over digital subscriber line (DSL) services because regulation of the cable industry is much less than regulation of the telecommunications industry. Analysis of the market shows cable penetration of the broadband market is greater than DSL and DSL's growth rate lags behind that of cable.

E-commerce: measurement and measurement uses

Article Abstract:

Measuring the economic impact of e-commerce is difficult because their are so many factors to consider. Some of these factors are services offered by 'old economy' companies such as banks and brokerage services, free services that collect advertising revenues and the savings from the convenience of shopping online.
