The European Internal Market Programme and inbound foreign direct investment

Article Abstract:

Studies that were made on the European Common Market indicate that the removal of non-tariff barriers was not the only factor that contributed to the increase of foreign direct investments (fdi) either among member states or from non-member states. Other fdi determinants are market size and growth, agglomeration economies and relative factor costs. Further studies reveal that the effects of integration is correlated with the type of investment being analyzed and the time of analysis.

The European Trade Union Confederation: its organization and objectives in transition

Article Abstract:

The importance of the European Trade Union Confederation (ETUC) among European trade unions has grown increasingly since 1987, largely because of the EU's economic and political development. The ETUC's membership, organizational framework, supporting institutions, mode of representation, central objectives and aspirations, sources of revenues and policy making procedures are evaluated. Its organizational reforms enforced in 1991 and their subsequent ramifications are evaluated.
