Competence and contract in the theory of the firm

Article Abstract:

The limits to the usefulness of managing the company as an alternative organizational form to the market can be developed, despite claims of some that this approach provides a general all-encompassing theory of the firm. Some complex activities are non-contractible in principle, particularly those whose aim cannot be well determined beforehand, and that need experimental and flexible schemes of coordination.

A comment on indentured servitude: in response to Kritikos and Bolle - February 15th, 1998
