Cooperation and the efficiency of regional R&D activities

Article Abstract:

The relationship between the cooperative behavior of manufacturing establishments in a region and the efficiency of their R&D activities, using data for 11 European regions are investigated. It is observed that there are some significant differences in the attitude towards R&D cooperation as well as with regard to the efficiency of R&D activities between the regions.

Sectoral patterns of technological activity and export market share dynamics

Article Abstract:

Manufacturing sectors in a select number of OECD countries are studied, and the importance of sectoral diversity in the innovative process is highlighted. It leads to a conclusion that the technological rivalry between countries in specific industries affects their trade competitiveness in terms of export market shares.

Article Abstract:

The evolution of the welfare state in the majority of OECD countries during the pre-globalization (1946-80) and globalization (1980-2000) periods is analyzed. The welfare states remained rooted in the political economy that have governed them.
